Alchemicals in General
Main Article: Alchemical Intricacies
Alchemicals are WEIRD. Lovely, but weird. There's a lot going on there that's good to know in designing them, but probably nothing worth reiterating here.
Alchemicals in Exile
The Champions are the Exalted of the people, and the Deliberative gives them many ways to pursue their goals. However, most face a glass ceiling incapable of reaching the highest ranks saved only for the other Celestial Exalted, though this is fine for most, who limit their time in Hadal and yearn to become Colossi and cities among the people. The worse problem still, however, is that Alchemicals are expected to carry out the will of the Deliberative at all times - but their hearts are among the people, and the inner turmoil weighs on each of them to varying extents.
Notable Alchemicals
Not gonna lie, not in love with the Alchemical example (see Unbowed Golden Advocate). Not BAD (in fact I'm a fan of his backstory just not his hook), but the Alchemicals have SO much going on, I'd really rather adapt Vanilla ones and create our own than indulge that hook. Though really, we can do all that all that and more if we wanted - the Alchemical number in at around a thousand in number.
- One of the most recent Alchemicals, and has increased suspicion of all Champions by going Apostate almost immediately after his creation. But even that doesn't tell the whole strange story. Apostates kill, often in gruesome and unnecessary ways. But his attacks have been coordinated, and no bodies have been found in his wake. There is a theory that he is taking them back to his base of operations to perform gruesome experiments on them, but it is one actively quieted by the Deliberative. In truth, it may be out of fear or denial more than anything else - some of those missing are young Celestials, and the Primordials have proven their shards can be corrupted in strange and terrible ways.
Vanilla Alchemicals
Largely gonna link to the other notes here than repeat it.
- Claslati Alchemicals - Actually only two are mentioned in passing and both aren't strong hooks to me. Looks like this is ripe ground for fresh ideas. I'm a fan of the glot mother having an Alchemical, just putting that out there.
- Yugashi Alchemicals - Of particular interest to me are Excessively Righteous Blossom and Lissome Avid Engineer. They're both the examples of their caste in Vanilla (even though Excessively Righteous Blossom acts EXPLICITLY counter to his caste), and have interesting enough stuff going on.
- Estasian Alchemicals - Again actually none of note, huh. Fertile soil. ;x
- Sovan Alchemicals - Well. These guys are more sparse than I remember. Stern Whip of Industry isn't bad (and again example), but he doesn't really grab my imagination like the Yugashi ones I mentioned.
- Nuradi Alchemicals - Magnanimous Radiant Servitor is interesting though a bit hard to immediately translate, maybe Defiance-Excising Razor as a little spice (and a hook if we REALLY wanted).
- Kamaki Alchemicals - Excellent Inquisitive Analyst and Eternally Vigilant Bell are my picks, I actually really like Analyst's hook.
- Jarishite Alchemicals - Huh! Again, a nation with a strong definition that lacks any strong Alchemicals. I'll roll this around some because I LOVE Jarish, but if you have any ideas go for it too.
- Gulaki Alchemicals - Blissful Jade Artisan is an interesting one to entertain translating to Gunstar, as well the two Soulsteel castes (Dreadful Adjudicator of Law being a caste example).
- Alchemicals of the Reaches - Thousand-Faceted Nelumbo, the example Adamant, is of some interest, I enjoy her backstory plus she could have a link to the Sidereals in some way.
- Xexan and Loranei Alchemicals - As I said, I wouldn't mind them having EXPLICITLY having only a few, possibly even only one or two. They lend themselves to interesting details.
Autochthon and the Divine Ministers
Main Article: The Divine Ministers
There's not much to say here right now, I think.
Colossi
We probably need to entertain some Colossi designs to sprinkle here and there. Estasia is really inviting in particular.
The Cities
- Claslati Cities - All three of the detailed cities are of some interest, having strong enough ideas to resonate in the Gunstar. 'Turon' and 'Gall' are two metropoli mentioned in passing that are space for us to design in if we want.
- Yugashi Cities - Kadar is the most interesting detailed. Ot is top dog in Vanilla because it's where they're trying to break on through to the other side from, so it could be a city-weapon. Otherwise I think Kereth and Het are ours to come up with interesting hooks for in Gunstar. Yugash is mad science nation, let's go nuts.
- Estasian Cities - Lux is fascinatingly designed city, Cidon is important because of Gunstar but not really detailed, we got this.
- Sovan Cities - Neither of the cities is greatly detailed or prepared for Gunstar. I'd say the Conurbations are the most interesting aspect of Sova, though Sova does have enough interesting terrain to make it worth a visit. Also malki.
- Nuradi Cities - Wisant is fucking awesome. Xefin's got a bit of a hook, Shastar isn't bad just doesn't have a hook. Nurad in general has pretty interesting cities, but Perygra isn't detailed before death (like Ixut in Sova).
- Kamaki Cities - Kamak rules, fact. Ein and Trantec are boss.
- Jarishite Cities - Jast-Qune is AMAZING.
- Gulaki Cities - Thutot and Mogera are both fairly interesting.
- Cities of the Reaches - Om is an interesting idea in Vanilla, but not sure how easily it translates to Gunstar. As mentioned, I wouldn't mind upstart cities in the Poles of Steam and Lighting, small specifically adapted cities unaffiliated with the Eight Nations.
- Xexas and Loran - But very interesting cities in description and design, as I said I'd like them to be sort of ancillary cities to the Eight Nations, like Puerto Rico to America maybe?
